How to Prepare a Hot Tub for Removal
A room-by-room-style checklist for the tub, utilities, access path and loose accessories.

The short answer: document the unit, make utilities safe, clear the route and confirm what the provider will and will not handle before pickup day.
Start with four facts
Before anyone quotes the job, gather the tub’s approximate length and width, its location, its current condition and the narrowest point between the tub and the loading area. A few wide photos usually explain more than a long description. Include the full tub, each side, the service panel, nearby deck or patio edges, and the route to the driveway.
Handle water and utilities deliberately
Do not begin cutting or moving a spa while it may still be energized. Identify whether it is plug-connected or hardwired. Hardwired electrical, gas and permanent plumbing should be made safe by an appropriate qualified trade when required. Ask the removal provider exactly what “disconnected” must mean for its crew. Drainage also needs a suitable route; do not direct treated water where local rules or site conditions make that inappropriate.
Clear the carry route
Open gates, move furniture, secure pets and remove hoses, planters and loose décor from the path. Measure the narrowest gate, doorway or turn. Note stairs, steep grades, soft lawn, gravel and low branches. If the tub cannot travel whole, those details help the crew choose a controlled dismantling plan.
Separate what belongs with the job
Set the cover, lifter, steps and loose accessories beside the tub only if you want them included. Keep chemicals, propane cylinders, batteries and unrelated household debris separate until they are specifically approved. This prevents confusion and makes the estimate reflect the actual load.
